MedGenome is offering COVID-19 test by RT-PCR and CBNAAT technologies. The RT-PCR test, which is approved for Karnataka by ICMR, detects and amplifies one or more loci of the RNA virus. The RT-PCR test is regarded as the current gold standard for molecular diagnosis with high sensitivity. The CBNAAT test, which is approved for Telangana by ICMR, has been authorized by FDA under an EUA for use by authorized laboratories. CBNAAT being an end-to-end cartridge-based test it presents minimal chances of contamination. Furthermore, automated RNA extraction in CBNAAT results in lower chances of manual error and faster turnaround time.
