Baby Conceived using IVF in Combination with PGS

Invitro Fertilisation (IVF) is revolutionary technique that helped millions of couples achieve the dream of parenthood. One such couple was Mr and Mrs Swamy (name changed). After a 12 year long struggle and multiple IVF attempts they were blessed with a son. This baby was conceived using IVF in combination with an advanced genetic screening technique called Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS).

Prior to this the couple suffered multiple miscarriages. On investigation it was found that the miscarriages occurred due to aneuploidies in the foetus.

11 embryos from the next IVF cycle were screened using PGS at MedGenome Labs. PGS involves analysing few cells from and IVF Embryo and checking if the number of chromosomes is normal. The report provided by MedGenome recommended the best embryos for transfer which resulted in a normal pregnancy and healthy baby.

Summary

  • PGS significantly enhances the chances of getting pregnant through IVF
